Joseph Gal is a Professor of Medicine, Pathology, and Pharmacology, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Division of Clinical Pharmacology

Jill S. Groark is the Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA) Market Research Manager, responsible for managing primary and secondary research projects that support the associations’ strategy needs.  She has over 10 years of experience within the market research industry, conducting both qualitative and quantitative research for a diverse range of clients including Fortune 500 companies in the telecommunications and packaged goods industries.  She was a Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

Jill will be discussing the role of research at MGMA, a non-profit member based association for professional administrators and leaders of medical group practices.  She will present examples of recent research initiatives including what the data revealed and how the information helps further the association’s mission to continually improve the performance of medical group practice professionals and the organizations they represent.

* We have scheduled the next several meetings on Fridays to see if that enables more people to

attend.

MCMLA

The 2010 MCMLA annual meeting in Wichita is just around the corner, Oct 6-9.  Visit the meeting website for information on CE classes, program, exhibitors, hotel, and local attractions.  Featured speakers include Lorri Zipperer, the well-known “cybrarian,” who has been a leader in librarianship and patient safety, and David Rothman, a hospital librarian and engaging speaker whose blog is subtitled “health information/geekery,” which gives you some idea of his style.

Colorado Interlibrary Loan Conference

Be sure to save the date for the 42^nd annual Colorado Interlibrary Loan conference.  It will take place on April 28-29, 2011 at the Lory Student Center on the Colorado State University campus in the scenic and popular city of Fort Collins, CO.  The conference theme this year is “Libraries, they are a changing: ILL in the Digital Age”.  While we are still in the process of developing programs, this year’s conference is sure to offer plenty of interesting and relevant programs, and a chance to network with colleagues from various regions of the country and beyond.

A SWIFT preconference will be held on April 27^th at the same location.  We will continue to send out email updates from time to time as we plan the conference.  For conference information, you can also visit us at:

Joseph Gal is a professor of medicine, pathology, and pharmacology
University of Colorado School of Medicine, Division of Clinical Pharmacology.

M. Radhika Nath is the Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA) senior research scientist with responsibility for managing research projects in the MGMA Innovation and Research Department as well as MGMA’s Center for Research.  She came to MGMA from the Department of Primary Care and General Practice at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.  At the University of Birmingham, she was a research fellow investigating diagnostic errors in family practice.  Radhika has a doctorate in public policy with a specialization in decision sciences from the Rockefeller College, University at Albany, State University of New York.  In the past she has served as a co-op research fellow at IBM’s Watson Research Center.

At MGMA she works on topics of health policy with practical applications.  She is currently working on such diverse issues as patient safety, health information technology, physician compensation, patient-centered medical home, and reducing waste in health care.
